Anytime you have a question regarding the performance of your portable radio battery, stop by the Communications repair shop at 2601 Panorama Drive, Building A. We will evaluate your battery and replace it if necessary. Your battery charge should last your entire shift whether your work 8, 10 or 12 hour shifts. If it does not last your shift, stop by for a new battery.
In most cases for most departments there is no charge for replacement batteries. Batteries are part of your maintenance fees paid by your department each year.
Not from Communications, but you are welcome to purchase your own, ask our staff and we would be happy to provide you information on how to purchase an extra battery. Communications is only responsible for the one primary battery for each portable radio.
All electronic devices such as your television, cellular telephone, portable hand-held radio, vehicular two-way radio and even your microwave oven emit RF (radio frequency) waves. The FCC (Federal Communications Commission) sets standards for RF safety. More information can be obtained by visiting their website.
